John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist movement, insisted that Christian faith was more than just a set of beliefs or a feeling. Faith changes our lives and results in faithful action in the world. This series will look at John Wesley’s General Rules in connection with a book, Three Simple Rules: A Wesleyan Way of Living by Rueben P. Job, to show how our faith can come to life in all that we say and do.

This 5-week sermon series invites us into a summer of sacred soul care. Just as we protect our skin in the summer sun, we’re called to care for our souls. Through the biblical rhythm of rest, work, and play, we explore how to nurture a healthy balance in our lives. And most importantly, we rediscover the Sabbath not as a rule to follow, but as a gift to embrace.

Lent marks the forty days leading up to Easter, mirroring Jesus' forty days in the wilderness before his public ministry. Many people give up something, such as chocolate, soda, or social media, during Lent, or take up something new, such as a new prayer practice and devotion. Lent is a sacred invitation to recognize that God blesses our days while we long for God’s promised future, where there will be no tears, no pain, and no sorrow.
This sermon series, based on Kate Bowler’s Bless the Lent We Actually Have, invites you to understand that our actual days—ordinary, nothing special, uncertain, pain-filled, and medically challenged—might be blessed as God blesses each of our days just as they are.
