Adult Small Groups

Bible Study

Pastor Jiyeon offers a 4-week Lenten Bible Study with the practice of Lectio Divina (sacred reading) and discussion. Both in-person and virtual groups will meet on Wednesdays at 10 am and 7 pm, respectively. The study dates are March 19, April 2, 9, and 16.

Note: The groups do not meet on March 26. No reading assignment. To sign up, contact Pastor Jiyeon at jkim@wesleyvienna.org or find the signup sheet in the Narthex on Sunday.

UWF

United Women in Faith (Wednesday morning/Thursday evening monthly) – Circles meet for inspirational programs about missions, women, children, and youth.

The Morning Circle meets monthly on the first Wednesday at 10:30 am in-person in the Church Library.

The Evening Circle meeting is scheduled monthly on the first Thursday at 7:30 pm via ZOOM.

UWF Book Club

Everyone is welcome to join the Wesley United Women in Faith Book Club—it's not just for women! We meet every 4–6 weeks on Sundays at 4:00 pm via Zoom. The books come from the UWF Reading Program and cover topics like mission, leadership, community, social action, and spiritual growth. There are books for all ages, and many are available through the Fairfax County Public Library. Feel free to invite friends!

Common Grounds: Adult Discussion

Common Grounds meets after the 10 am Sunday service, both in person in the library and online via Zoom. Gathering begins around 11:05 am, with discussion starting at 11:20 and ending promptly at noon. Just drop in and join the discussion.

The group is currently reading Beyond Belief: The Secret Gospel of Thomas by Elaine Pagels, which explores Jesus’ teachings before formal doctrine. The book is available at the Fairfax County Public Library.

M3D

Methodist Men Morning Devotion (M3D) meets on Thursday mornings in the church library to discuss Faith and Family and explore Biblical wisdom in a small group setting.  The men of Wesley are invited to check out the group and plan to attend as often as they can. This is an option for some who may not be able to join the Men's breakfast that meets a little later on Thursday mornings.

Thursday Morning Breakfast

Wesley UMC’s Men meet to enjoy a low-key breakfast every Thursday Morning at 7:30 am at the Merrifield Silver Diner. While this breakfast is “billed” as a Men’s breakfast, all are welcomed to join in. We meet for about an hour, or as long as our “hot air” can last! This has been a Thursday morning staple for more than 25 years (although we have moved around to different area restaurants over time)!

The idea was originally thought of by one of our former ministers, Jim Ward, who thought it would be a good idea to have a low-key, out-of-church, experience to discuss church and other items in our lives without ministerial guidance. Today, we enjoy discussing with everyone about ongoing subjects in our lives – Wesley, family, medical issues, sports, mostly wherever our discussion takes us, (although we do strive to avoid political discussions). Our typical attendance is between 4 and 9 people, but we’re always glad to add another table or two! Come out and join us! Even if you don’t want a full breakfast, feel free to stop by and have some coffee or tea!
