Wesley United Methodist Church celebrates Holy Communion on the first Sunday of each month at both the 8:45am and 11:00am Worship Services. We also celebrate Holy Communion during the Maundy Thursday Worship Service during Holy Week and on Christmas Eve at the 7:30pm Worship Service.
Holy Communion, or the Lord’s Supper, is a sacrament, and “an act of worship ordained by Christ.” It is a means of God’s grace.
As part of our Holy Communion liturgy, we say, “Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again.” As part of Holy Communion, we remember that Christ died for each one of us. As we take the bread and the cup, we are told to “do this in remembrance of me.” Holy Communion also is a time of celebration as we give thanks for Christ’s resurrection. We also believe that Christ will come again in final victory.
United Methodists welcome all Christians to take part in Holy Communion. All who “do truly and earnestly repent of your sins, and are in love and charity with your neighbors, and intend to lead a new life” are welcomed at the Lord’s Table.
