Power Pack Program at Wesley

The purpose of Wesley’s Power Pack Program (P3) is to provide needy Vienna elementary school children with non-perishable food and beverages to nourish them over a weekend when they are not being served school meals.

To accomplish this mission, Wesley volunteers meet on the last Sunday of every month during the school year (September – May) in the Fellowship Hall and pack one-and-a-half gallon sized plastic bags with items that provide each child with two breakfasts, two lunches, two dinners, two snacks, and two beverages.

Food for Others purchases items in bulk or receives food donations from grocery stores and provides these items to Wesley volunteers who work together to assemble the P3 bags.

The Wesley congregation participates in the Power Pack Program by:

(1) making monetary contributions to Wesley United Methodist Church with a designation going Food for Others (each P3 bag costs approximately $5)

(2) assembling the P3 bags on the last Sunday of the month during the school year

(3) assisting in transporting supplies from Food for Others to the church

(4) assisting in transporting the completed P3 bags to Freedom Hill Elementary School
